Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 tdci intercooler pipe. I just went to top up the washer fluid and check the oil level today and noticed oil on the large intercooler pipe coming from a small crack next to the bracket that holds it onto the engine block, I understand this was a design fault on the 2005 focus.
This type of problem can have a wide range of causes: A failing DPFE sensor. Restricted or clogged EGR tubes. A clogged catalytic converter. Carbon buildup on the EGR temperature sensor. Faulty or lack of vacuum supply to the EGR. Electrical problems with the EGR circuit. Problems with the engine computer.
Bad MAP Sensor Symptoms. A bad manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor can upset fuel delivery and ignition timing. Depending on your vehicle model, your engine might experience one or more of these performance problems: Rich air-fuel ratio. Lean air-fuel ratio. Surging.
Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Mk2 - Limp Mode, split in rubber hose / connector. Hi, I'll try and keep this short :-) My Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Mk2 keeps going in to limp home mode but showing no errors and appears to be OK after turning off and on the engine - but under load (e.g. up a hill) will go back in to limp home mode and kick out a cloud of smoke.

Posted March 31, 2014. Blanking the EGR will not cause the engine to overheat, the EGR operational zone is only at low revs at part throttle, (varies depending on engine) so on full throttle/ higher revs (when the engine produces more power/ more heat) the EGR is closed anyway. An operational EGR (unblanked) will contaminate the inlet (manifold
To fix a stuck EGR valve, the first step is to check the engine’s vacuum hoses. Then, using a carburetor cleaner, spray the valve and clean it thoroughly until all carbon is gone. If you have an OBD2 scanner, scan your vehicle to further diagnose the issue.
As my car was experiencing these symptoms, I decided to clean out the EGR valve and inlet manifold to try and restore the engines performance. The photo sequence that follows shows the work involved on a 2004 Ford Mondeo 130 TDCi ‘Euro4’, though I am sure other models will be similar.
Except for one code, P042f - EGR valve stuck closed. I cleaned the EGR and inlet manifold. But even after cleaning (and clearing DTCs) the EGR flags up the same fault code. Van occasionally feels very low on power at low revs, to the extent that it will barely accelerate in 1st gear, until revs are up to close to 2k.

Step 1: Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the negative battery cable and set it aside. Step 2: Remove the electrical connector. Remove the
I had read about the PCM update somewhere - there was also talk about it improving fuel consumption. I think it may well be worth a shot if things don't improve. Interestingly, if I put the car in neutral and rev it at around the 1500rpm range, it runs perfectly, no judder, no fluctuating revs, no rough running at all.
